Dr. Koch is authorized to represent clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO), the German Federal Patent Court (FPC), the European Patent Office (EPO) as well as the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM).
Practice Areas:
Dr. Koch began his career in intellectual property in 2000 at Vossius & Partner in Munich. He joined df-mp in July 2008 and is a member of the firm’s large and diversified biotechnology and pharmaceuticals practice group. Dr. Koch advises German and foreign clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with an emphasis in the areas of molecular biology and biotechnology with focus on microbiology, medicine and immunology. His scientific background includes microbiology, virology, molecular biology and plant physiology. An important part of his practice relates to the drafting, prosecution and coordination of European and German patent applications, particularly in the area of molecular biology and medicine.
Dr. Koch is furthermore responsible for opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO and has been involved in a number of national and multinational patent litigation cases. Another main focus of his work lies in rendering patent validity and infringement opinions in connection with freedom-to-operate analyses and due diligence projects.
