Dr. Pioro is authorized to represent clients before the European Patent Office (EPO), the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO), the German Federal Patent Court (FPC), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as well as the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM).
Practice Areas:
Dr. Pioro has been active in the field of intellectual property since she joined df-mp in 2004. Since December 2007, she has been associated with df-mp as a German patent attorney.
Dr. Pioro is a member of the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals practice groups of df-mp and advises German and foreign clients in all aspects of intellectual property, with an emphasis in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. Her scientific background includes the fields of molecular biology, genetics, developmental biology and neurobiology.
An important part of her practice relates to the drafting, prosecution and coordination of patent applications, particularly in the area of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. In this area, Dr. Pioro is interested in developing international filing strategies, in particular for Europe and the U.S., together with the client.
Dr. Pioro is furthermore responsible for German nullity proceedings and has been involved in numerous opposition proceedings before the EPO as well as national and multinational patent litigation cases. Another main focus of her work lies in rendering patent validity and infringement opinions in connection with freedom-to-operate and due diligence projects, as well as counselling clients in matters relating to supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) for pharmaceuticals in Europe.
