Dr. Schimmel is authorized to represent clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO), the German Federal Patent Court (FPC), as well as the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).
Practice Areas:
Dr. Schimmel has been active in the field of intellectual property law since he joined df-mp in 2000. Since 2004, he is a German patent attorney.
Dr. Schimmel is a member of the chemistry practice group of df-mp. He advises German and foreign clients in the field of pharmaceutically active agents and organic synthesis, as well as in polymer chemistry and materials science. His scientific background comprises organic and inorganic chemistry, with an emphasis on chemical kinetics and chemical engineering.
Furthermore, his practice includes the drafting, prosecution and coordination of European and German patent applications, as well as nullity actions before the German Federal Patent Court. Based on this experience, he renders patent validity and infringement opinions.
In addition, Dr. Schimmel is a member of the trademark and design practice group. His practice in this area involves the filing and prosecuting of German and European trademarks, as well as enforcement and defence thereof.
