Ms. Pohlman’s qualifications enable her to represent clients in Europe as well as the United States. Specifically, she is authorized to represent clients before the European Patent Office and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
Practice Areas:
Sandra Pohlman is co-founder and partner of df-mp. She heads the firm’s large and diversified biotechnology and pharmaceuticals practice group together with Dr. Dörries. Ms. Pohlman has specialized in intellectual property in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical field since 1992.
Ms. Pohlman advises domestic and foreign clients in all aspects of intellectual property in her field, with her particular focus in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, pharmaceutical agents and formulations, diagnostic assays and medical applications.
A main part of her practice is oppositions and prosecution before the European Patent Office, where she has consistently obtained favourable results for her clients. During her career, she has been involved in numerous patent litigation disputes in European and U.S. courts.
Another important aspect of her practice is due diligence and freedom-to-operate opinions, including advice relating to patent infringement and validity under European law.
Additionally, she coordinates supplementary protection certificate (SPC) filings in Europe, including a number of national court actions arising from her more complex SPC matters.
